My Philosophy on Sexuality Education...
“My belief is that every person has the right to fully understand and appreciate how their amazing body functions. I follow a holistic approach to sexuality education. Sexuality education is a lifelong process and is an inclusive term that covers biology, reproduction, intimacy, whole-body development, sexual identity, decision-making, body image and relationships. Successful and appropriate sexuality education provides people with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to ensure a positive attitude towards sexuality, an ability to take care of their sexual health and to develop healthy interpersonal relationships. Too often I see teenagers completely unprepared for the barrage of sexual images and pressure thrust upon them. Similarly, I see women failing to conceive, not for medical reasons, but through lack of understanding of how their bodies work. Sexual health is often ignored until something “goes wrong” – whether it is an unplanned pregnancy, disease/infection or difficulty in conceiving. Sexuality is an inherent part of all of us: real health and wellbeing can only be reached when we have ownership, knowledge and pride in our whole body.”
